Farnhill Pinnacle - Grange Road, Farnhill, BD20 9AJ, OS Grid Reference SE 0094 4710

Farnhill Tower was built for Queen Victorias Golden Jubilee in 1887. Inside the Pinnacle was placed a box containing jubilee medals, local newspapers and a bottle with a parchment note inside it. It is said that the signatures of all the men involved in its construction were included along with instructions, that if the pinnacle were ever allowed to fall into ruin the box and its contents would be handed to the Vicar of Kildwick.

When finished the tower stood over12 feet (3.65 meters) and 9 feet (2.74 meters) in diameter. The cross at the top has a carving of a rose, a shamrock and a thistle.

From Farnhill Pinnacle if you follow the footpath north you will come to a gap in the wall, on the other side of the wall you will find a 4000 year old bc burial ground and the actual chamber is open, as seen on third photo.
